Why I Founded Kingdom Heritage Academy

People often ask me why I decided to start Kingdom Heritage Academy. On the surface, the answer seems straightforward. I love football. I love coaching children. I wanted to create an academy where young players could enjoy the game and develop their ability.

While all of those things are true, they don't tell the whole story.

Kingdom Heritage Academy wasn't founded simply because another football coaching programme was needed. It was founded because I believe football has the power to shape lives. Every week, coaches across the country have the privilege of influencing young people during some of the most important years of their development. That influence extends far beyond teaching children how to pass a ball or score a goal. It shapes confidence, character, resilience and the way children begin to see themselves and others.

That responsibility should never be taken lightly.

Over the years, I've watched children arrive at football sessions full of excitement, but I've also seen children arrive carrying anxiety, self-doubt or a fear of making mistakes. I've seen young players flourish because someone believed in them, and I've seen how a single word of encouragement at the right moment can change the way a child approaches both football and life.

Those experiences have stayed with me.

They made me ask an important question: What if football could be one of the greatest tools we have for helping children become the people God created them to be?

That question became the foundation of Kingdom Heritage Academy.

From the very beginning, I wanted this academy to be known for excellent football coaching. Children come to us because they love football, and they deserve coaching that helps them improve technically, challenges them to reach their potential and inspires them to enjoy the game for many years to come. Excellence matters. We want our players to become confident on the ball, intelligent in their decision-making and courageous in the way they play.

But I have never believed that football ability alone is the greatest measure of success.

Long after children have forgotten the score of a particular match, they will remember the people who believed in them. They will remember the coach who encouraged them when they were struggling. They will remember the teammate who picked them up after making a mistake. They will remember whether football made them feel valued, included and capable of achieving more than they thought possible.

Those are the moments that shape lives.

My Christian faith has profoundly influenced the way I think about coaching. It reminds me that every child has value, not because of their football ability, but because they are uniquely created by God. That belief changes everything. It influences the way I speak to children, the patience I try to show when they are learning something new and the importance I place on creating an environment where every player feels known, encouraged and respected.

For some families, our Christian identity is one of the reasons they choose Kingdom Heritage Academy. For others, it may simply be something they are curious about. Either way, my hope is that every family experiences the culture our faith inspires. A culture where kindness is expected, humility is celebrated, respect is shown to everyone and excellence is pursued with integrity.

Our doors are open to every family, whatever their background or beliefs. My desire has never been to create an exclusive environment. Quite the opposite. I want Kingdom Heritage Academy to be a place where children from every walk of life feel welcomed, supported and given the opportunity to flourish.

When I think about the future of this academy, I don't immediately think about league tables or trophies. Of course, I hope our players achieve great things in football. I hope they score unforgettable goals, win important matches and fulfil every dream they have within the game.

But my greatest hope reaches much further than that.

I hope one day a former player looks back and says that football helped them become more confident. That it taught them resilience when life became difficult. That it showed them the importance of working hard, serving others and treating people with kindness and respect. I hope they remember that someone believed in them before they fully believed in themselves.

If Kingdom Heritage Academy can help produce outstanding footballers, that will be something to celebrate. But if, alongside that, we help raise young people of integrity, compassion, courage and faith, then I believe we will have achieved something far greater.

That is the vision that continues to inspire me every time I step onto the training pitch.

Every cone we lay out, every session we plan and every conversation we have with a child is another opportunity to make a positive difference in someone's life. Football gives us that opportunity, and I never want to take it for granted.
